Right-wing plays

Julian Fellowes backed Nicholas Hytner's call for for a "good, mischievous right wing play" in an item on the Today programme this morning. The item did not mention that it was following up on a piece in The Sunday Times.

On Today, Julian Fellowes's main point was that the 60s left is now the establishment. He made the point at least twice. The most striking thing about the discussion (which is not captured in the BBC News online report) was that the playwright Kwame Kwei-Armah could not or would not understand this simple point.

Preachy drama (of any political hue) is no fun but the Iraq war deserves some treatment along the lines of The Falklands Play.
